TKHS BPA Students Finish Strong at National Competition

Senior Mackenzie Hoogterp and junior Meghan Skidmore both placed high in their competitions. Hoogterp earned a fifth-place medal in meeting and event planning and also landed 14th in business law and ethics.

Skidmore placed 12th in basic office systems and 16th in intermediate word processing.

Junior Carmen Reynolds and senior Emalyn Cartwright also competed at the national finals. Advisor Keith Hamming said all were excellent representatives of TK!

Hamming has served as the BPA advisor for 28 years and enjoys seeing the students grow and achieve success in the club. He said BPA gives students a connection to real-world workforces in general and offers opportunities to build networks with professionals. He also said students build their own confidence throughout BPA competitions.

This year the team was grateful to receive a Barry Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council grant to assist with travel expenses to the national finals.
