TKHS Students Shine at MITES Competition

MITES focuses on industrial arts and technology, career and technical education, graphic arts and STEM classrooms. The annual competition is a statewide event in Michigan for middle and high school students, showcasing student projects in industrial arts, technology, CAD, engineering,

woodworking, and welding. Students compete at regional levels, with winners advancing to a state

championship to win awards and scholarships, often judged by industry professionals.

This year’s contest was held at the Oakland Expo Center in Waterford, MI with hundreds of projects from all across the state.

Scott Meyers teaches the introduction to mechanical drafting, engineering and architecture class as well as advanced classes and advanced 3D CAD classes. “All the students did wonderfully at state after qualifying through regionals,” he said.
