“The Music Man,” written by Meredith Willson, takes place in a fictional River City, Iowa, in 1912. The play follows the fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, played by Aaron Czarnecki, as he cons the people of River City into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef.
His plans to skip towns with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by the end of the play.
Tickets for the play Friday and Saturday are $5 for students and $7 for adults.
The play is directed by Laura Nikkel.
