Derek Brandon is the son of Shannon and Terry Brandon. He is a member of National Honor Society and one of the top 10 students for the class of 2017.
He has been a member of the track, soccer and basketball teams.
He plans to study computer science at California State University, Northridge, and then transfer to the University of Southern California. He also plans to continue pursuing an acting career.
Rachel Gorton is the daughter of Chad and Rhonda Gorton. She has earned four varsity letters in cross-country, three varsity letters in track, is a four-time state qualifier in cross-country, earned the most valuable player award for cross-country her senior year, was named all-conference and academic all-state in cross-country her sophomore year, has been on the honor roll every semester and is the 2017 valedictorian.
Gorton also is a member of the student council, National Honor Society, Circle of Giving, Big Brothers/Big Sisters program and Teens Against Tobacco Use.
She plans to attend Central Michigan University to study pre-medicine.
Carrie Finholm is the daughter of Callie Weick and Troy Finholm. She is a member of the National Honor Society, was named student of the month in February, earned highest honor roll credits, and won the Meijer Great Choices student film contest in 2015 and 2016.
She serves in the children's ministry at Thornapple Valley Church and is part of Fusion 412 Youth Group at the church. She is the executive producer for the second semester of the 2106-17 school year advanced digital media and works part-time.
Her hobbies include making outfits, creating videos, photography, traveling, going to the lake, spending time with friends and family and eating ice cream in the summer.
She plans to attend Grand Valley State University to pursue a degree in education with a minor in general business.
Hayley Bashore is the daughter of Lynn and Craig Bashore. She serves as the National Honor Society vice president and team captain for the varsity tennis, basketball and swim teams. She earned all-conference honors as a swimmer four times and was named all-conference for tennis once. She has qualified for Division 1 swim state finals and Division 3 state tennis finals. She is an academic all-state student-athlete and an AP scholar.
In addition to swimming and tennis, Bashore also was a member of the basketball team, Business Professionals of America, Teens Against Tobacco Use, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, youth basketball coach, Gun Lake Community Church teaching assistant and played in the TK Quidditchville Cup.
She will attend Ball State University in Indiana to study advertising and digital media.
