TKHS senior Grace Hauschild has been selected as a member of the All-State Choir for the third year of her high school career. Hauschild will be a member of about 120 high school choir students from all over the state making up this select group. This is the highest of honors and an amazing achievement for someone to be selected for three years! The All-State Choir will perform at the Youth Arts Festival in May at Western Michigan University.

Thornapple Kellogg High School senior Turner Halle received the Good Citizens Award from the Grand Rapids-based Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Three pictures showed three different stories to Thornapple Kellogg High School students. The first appeared to show a man running away from a vehicle. In the second, it appeared the man was running toward another person. It wasn't until the full picture was revealed that students saw the man as a hero pushing the man out of the way of danger.

Nine Thornapple Kellogg High School Business Professionals of America members placed fifth or higher in 11 events at the regional BPA contest earning them a trip to the state contest in March.

'Twas the weekend before Christmas 
And all through the hallways
Not a student was stirring
All were gone for the holidays.

The TK community has a BIG HEART and people aren't afraid to donate to help others! That's especially evident this time of year, but the giving goes on all year long. The National Honor Society held food and toy drives this year collecting 773 non-perishable food items and 72 toys! The food will go to local food pantries and the toys are donated to Toys for Barry County Kids through Bradford White's UAW. AMAZING AMOUNT of support by our kids and staff to others in this community! Thank you TK NHS!

WOW!! Four TKHS choir students were selected to the State Honors Choir after first performing with the Regional Honors Choir. TKHS students Haley Bovee, Peter Verstraete and Grace Hauschild were selected to perform with the All-State SATB Choir (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) and Jack Schneider was selected to perform with the TTBB Choir (Tenor 1 and 2, Baritone and Bass four-part men's group). Performances will be Jan 26 at DeVos Hall. This is a HUGE honor for these students!!! And for TK to have FOUR students in the State Honors Choir is OUTSTANDING!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

First-grader Adam Beard wiggled in his seat while he meticulously painted each of the six pieces of a wooden ornament in bright colors. He stopped to examine each piece making sure no spot was left bare. "This one's mine," he said excitedly, beaming with pride as he handed over the pieces to waiting high school students. Armed with hot glue guns, the older students carefully put the pieces together to form a beautiful 3-D ornament ready for the first-graders to use as their own decorations at home.

Bob Buys, a U.S. Navy veteran, said he was "humbled and honored" to be named the Middleville Veteran of the Year and he thanked the Middleville and Thornapple Kellogg School community for honoring veterans. "I'm proud to be a veteran and I'm proud of the Middleville and TK community for being patriotic and paying respect. This community just gets it," he said.
