TKHS students said being in Business Professionals of America gives them skills they will need no matter what career lies ahead of them. Senior Justin Scholten, who is the past president of the TK club, will be advancing to the state competition for the third time in his high school career. “Anything I do I'm going to have to use skills I've learned in BPA,” said Scholten.

Student artwork is decorating Middleville and visitors can find the special pieces in many different locations.

It might be winter break for many students, but some members of the two Thornapple Kellogg High School teams are taking time out of their vacation days to prepare for the upcoming Vex Robotics competitions this year.

Students Offer Cool Acts of Caring to Community
Thornapple Kellogg Schools - The Thornapple River bustled through the Middleville dam as six high school students cleared brush, scraggly trees, a carpet of bristly grasses and unwanted weed trees on the riverbank. For three November Tuesdays, after school and on their own time, the students trekked to downtown Middleville testing out the science of kindness. It turns out that TK's "Making it Cool To Be Kind" operation -- that willingness to extend a helping hand -- is about creating a culture of kindness.

Senior citizens in the Thornapple Kellogg School District were treated to a holiday luncheon and entertainment at the Gun Lake Community Church sponsored by TK Schools. The TKHS Honors Choir entertained the 142 guests with a variety of holiday songs and invited the guests to join in singing some favorites, including "Jingle Bells," "Joy to the World," and "Silent Night."

Virtual reality, web site design, and real-world experiences were on the lesson plan for a group of Thornapple Kellogg High School advanced placement computer science students who toured two different Grand Rapids companies recently.

Donning protective eyeglasses and earplugs Thornapple Kellogg High School students toured Barry County manufacturing companies gaining a better insight into potential future career options. The tours were part of Barry County's Manufacturing Week now in its third year.

Thornapple Kellogg High School students will present “You Can’t Take It With You” at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4. Senior citizens are invited to attend the dress rehearsal performance Nov. 2. There is no charge to attend this performance for seniors. There will be light refreshments served at 6:30 p.m. prior to the performance beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens Friday and Saturday.
